Privacy notice
Last updated 28 October 2026
This notice explains what personal data hackney.club collects, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. We keep it short and specific.
Who we are
hackney.club is run by BJ Aylward Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 12686526), registered office 189–190 Shoreditch High Street, London E1 6HU. We are the controller of the personal data described here. Contact us about privacy through our contact form.
What we collect
| When | What we keep | Why, and our lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| You register for free access | Your name, email, business name, phone (optional), the links you entered, your business type and your demo link | To set up your account and email you about it. Consent, which you give with the tick box and can withdraw at any time. |
| You build a demo | Public information about your business from the links you give us (name, address, opening hours, photos, menu, colours), and any test bookings you make | To show you a working demo. Legitimate interests: you asked us to build it. |
| You use the site | Which pages and steps were reached, the page that referred you, any campaign tags in the link, and whether you used a phone or a computer, under a random number that lasts only while the page is open | To see where the site works and where it doesn’t. Legitimate interests. We don’t use cookies or store anything on your device for this, and we don’t keep your IP address. |
| You subscribe to the newsletter | Your email address, and when and where you signed up | To send the newsletter. Consent: you confirm by email, and can unsubscribe from any issue. |
| You send us a message | Your name, email, any business name or phone number you add, and your message | To reply. Legitimate interests. |
Please don’t enter real customer details in a demo. Demo bookings are test data and are deleted when the demo expires.
Who we share it with
We never sell your data or share it for anyone else’s marketing. We use these service providers to run hackney.club, under contracts that let them use the data only for us:
- Render hosts the website and demos (servers in the United States).
- Google stores sign-ups, messages and site statistics in Google Sheets, and serves our web fonts. Loading the fonts sends your IP address to Google.
- beehiiv sends our newsletter and stores newsletter subscribers’ email addresses (United States). You only join it if you ask to.
- Stripe will process payments for businesses that take them through hackney.club, under Stripe’s own privacy notice.
Where data goes outside the UK, it’s protected by the safeguards UK law requires: the UK–US data bridge where the provider is certified to it, or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Free-access registrations: until you ask us to delete them, or 24 months after we last heard from you if you don’t open an account.
- Demos: until the demo expires, usually within a few days.
- Messages: 24 months after we last replied.
- Site statistics: 24 months.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or take a copy. You can withdraw consent to emails at any time, using the unsubscribe link or our contact form. We’ll reply within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If we change this notice, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use data you’ve already given us, we’ll tell you first.
